The background is not a texture, it is the word football repeated across the whole face. Nobody has to read the plate to know what the award is for, which is useful when it is sitting on a table with five other sports.

Most awards this size carry a single ball. The Triad sculpts a helmet, a ball and a goalpost together, which is where the name comes from and why it reads as football from further away.
